Being the indecisive person I am, my final designs went through many adjustments until I was happy with them. I began simply designing business cards with a white background. I felt that this was boring and so I moved on to a bolder design which I felt reflected my design better. This featured a bright blue and pink background. After a lot of time trying to design the back to the business cards, I began to dislike the bold colours, I did not feel brave enough as the colour schemes I had used for both cards were pretty adventurous.
As I wanted to avoid plain white, I made pale grey backgrounds which really highlighted the bright colours from my palette. This made me reconsider the whole colour of the front of the business cards. I spent a long time trying out all my colours in different ways using my logo. The bright pink was quite problematic as it is such a bold colour, it could not be used in every situation because it was too harsh on the eyes or made text too difficult to read. However, I felt the bright pink was important in my design as it really pops against the others colours, and without it, my designs were too blue.
I had struggled with the back of my business cards as there was not much information required on the back and I could not find a minimalistic way to display it. All my designs for the back appeared too crowded and simply boxing the information seemed to boring. I decided to frame the information with a 3D box instead as this added a little more character to the design but kept the simplistic look.
I also altered the tag line "Playful graphic design and illustration" to be much smaller as I felt this was distracting from the logo but did not fit comfortably on the reverse of the card. Below are some screenshots of my developments -
